[120129][NEWS] 2NE1’s “I Am The Best” and Still the Best

These days popularity shifts very quickly; a song could last a whole month or even just one day. K-pop has become popular around Asia and throughout the world, but the shifting popularity is sometimes looked at as a problem. From these groups, girl group 2NE1promoted “I Am the Best” last summer and in one day that music video got over 1,000,000 hits. The song climbed up the chart but its popularity hasn’t died down. 

I am the Best, as of the January 28th, had over 30,000,000 views (actually it now has 31.2 million) and it ranks within the top 10 music videos with most views, along with Lonely and Hate You. 2NE1 has said, “We worked hard to show many sides of us in the IATB music video, so I think that is what attracted people” and “we want to make more cool videos in the future”. 

They also noted that they ask for support and attention. 2NE1 hasn’t formally been introduced to the American market, but through SNS worldwide fans are asking for them. This has also allowed 2NE1 to win MTV’s 2011 Best New Band in the World.
